Workplace Functionality: “Wua Lai Silver Workshop” and “Elephant PooPoo Paper Park” introduce workplace vocabulary and work-related conversations. The “Central Festival Info Desk” activity further enhances this by simulating service and public interaction within a work-like context.
Real-World Thai Speaking Skills: “Old City walking tour” and activities at “Chiang Mai Arcade Bus Station” and “Chiang Mai Railway Station” focus on practical travel navigation and planning. “Supa Bee Farm” encourages recounting personal routines, while “Movie Ticket Machine” provides practice with following instructions in a real-world scenario. The “Eco Resort Chiang Mai” activity hones accommodation-related language, crucial for independent travel.
Integrated Learning: The program design allows for morning lesson topics to directly prepare participants for the afternoon activities, creating an immediate and practical application of newly acquired language skills. This reinforces learning and builds confidence in real-world settings.
Progression: The activities are arranged to gradually increase in complexity, moving from basic conversational skills to more nuanced workplace and travel-related interactions.
This “4-week Thai Immersion Program” provides a robust framework for developing ILR2 proficiency by blending structured learning with authentic, hands-on experiences.

Today I had a Thai language lesson with Dr Ying. The lesson was delivered in an up beat and friendly manner and the target material was delivered highly effectively. I probably learnt more Thai in one lesson than I have in several self guided efforts.

Dr. Ying使用了語言教學當中的PPP教學方法,在使用全泰語的課程環境當中,學生能夠跟著她的講解與步驟進行課程。 這堂課之後我非常能夠有自信地說,我能夠使用泰語進行點飲料(order drinks)了。

As part of my TEFL course we had 3 hours of lessons with a Thai teacher. The final hour lesson was a fully immersive lesson where we learned how to order drinks. Non of the material was from the previous 2 hours. So from having no knowledge of the subject the whole class agreed that they could confidently order drinks in Thai. Dr Ying's method and instruction was very good especially as she got 16 non Thai speakers with no previous knowledge of the subject to be able to confidently speak Thai.

I had the pleasure and honour to attend classes with the wonderful Dr Ying Quinn. I was amazed at what was accomplished in a short time. I learnt that respect (3 levels) is embedded in the culture of Thailand. We were taught about the 5 tones and practiced how they sound. Then, we went through some fun games with the different words and tones and learned a simple sentence structure.. by the end of the lesson, I feel confident I could order my drink of choice at a cafe or bar in a polite manner… I am so impressed with the Teacher and her methods. I would recommend 100% and hope to learn more Thai with Dr Quinn as soon as possible. ขอบคุณมากครับ

Myself and my wife Rajni had a truly effective and thoroughly enjoyable review doing the Beginners Thai lessons for the past few months. Our teacher Kru Oil was an amazingly accomplished instructor. She was extreme patient, clear and engaging. We had a small group, so the classes were very interesting, with much learning about Thai culture, customs and cuisine etc along with the language skills! Overall a very satisfactory and enjoyable way to commence our efforts to learn Thai. 👍😀💥

The school was professional all around. The staff were great at helping us stay on top of our visa paperwork and class schedule; very organized and excellent in their bilingual or multilingual abilities. The teachers were well organized, yet flexible and willing to tailor lessons to students' needs and ability levels. Teaching methods and content were given from a variety of approaches and content. I would recommend the school to anyone serious about learning the language and culture.

My husband and I took Thai language lessons with Effective Thai Chiang Mai throughout our first year of living in Chiang Mai. I was very nervous learning such a foreign language, but with the family classroom option, it was just my husband and me and the instructor. When we traveled — which was often — our classes were simply paused until our return. The flexibility was so appreciated. We were able to learn at our own pace and at our own learning style. Everyone at Effective Thai Chiang Mai is so warm and accommodating. We literally started classes within a week of moving here. The whole school has such a friendly atmosphere, and it’s so clean and comfortable. It was a wonderful welcome to Chiang Mai. We made many friends our first week, many that were taking Thai language classes like us, or were enrolled in their SEE TEFL certification program. Because we were on a Thai language visa our first year, the school went above and beyond to help make that process as smooth as possible. We are so very thankful that we made the choice with this school!
